Fabrizio Romano provides Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United latest, denies recent claims
Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest surrounding Manchester United’s pursuit of Paris St. Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, denying recent reports.
Manchester United started the 2024 transfer window strong, signing Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, then stealing Leny Yoro from the grasps of Real Madrid in an incredible transfer from Lille.
However, with these two having been purchased for a combined £88 million, the club need to sell assets in order to continue to buy, and Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and Alvaro Fernandez have already left Erik ten Hag‘s squad.

United are now focusing on signing a midfielder, right-back, and centre-back, and there have been strong links between the club and Bayern Munich defensive pair Matthijs de Ligt and Moussair Mazraoui.
However, prior to these links, it was said that the club are keen on signing Paris St. Germain and Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte, although United and PSG seem to be very far apart on their respective valuations.
Romano explained on his YouTube channel that alongside De Ligt and Mazraoui, “Manuel Ugarte is also patiently waiting for Manchester United since few weeks ago when he agreed personal terms with United.
“So also Ugarte is still waiting for United. They know all these players that Man United need some outgoings to accelerate, but all of them still want to wait and go to Manchester United.”
Romano also explained that, despite there being recent reports that United would be open to a loan move with a “lucrative” option to buy, this was not the case.
In fact, with PSG and United still in talks, Romano explained that their discussions are about an obligation to buy following a loan rather than an option.
United also have Sofyan Amrabat on their list of potential options should they fail to secure Ugarte, but other reports have said that Amrabat is closer to a move to Fenerbahce as of now.
