“That’s very clear…” Fabrizio Romano vehemently denies bizarre Manchester United transfer rumour
Fabrizio Romano has vehemently denied transfer rumours surrounding Joshua Zirkzee after reports in Italy suggested he is considering leaving Old Trafford.
Joshua Zirkzee‘s start to life at Manchester United has not gone as many would have hoped following his debut goal for the club.
After signing from Bologna for around £36 million in the summer transfer window, Zirkzee debuted during a 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League, scoring as a substitute.

However, after 12 appearances, this has been his only goal to date, although he did assist Christian Eriksen during the club’s recent 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce.
The return of Rasmus Højlund, who has scored two goals in his last three starts, has compounded the Dutch international’s woes, with many comparing the two strikers.
Bizarre Zirkzee rumours
In the past week, a set of rather bizarre rumours from Italy claimed that Zirkzee was already considering leaving Manchester United in favour of a move back to the Serie A.
It was touted that Juventus were eyeing a January loan transfer for the 23-year-old, who was said to be considering his options after starting life at United.
Zirkzee is known to be a very technical player with the ball at his feet, which is a stark contrast from Højlund’s fast and strong style. It was said that Zirkzee has been finding it hard to adjust to the Premier League.
The reports are false
However, Fabrizio Romano has strongly denied these rumours on his YouTube channel. The famed Italian transfer specialist explained that, although Zirkzee was fantastic in Italy, he is focused on adapting to life at United and not thinking of leaving Old Trafford.
“Joshua Zirkzee was very happy in Italy, that’s very clear,” Romano explained. “Joshua Zirkzee in Italy did fantastic. But Joshua Zirkzee strongly wanted to go to Manchester United.
“Joshua Zirkzee decided to go to Manchester United. It was three months ago. So to think that Joshua Zirkzee, now after three months at the club, two months of activity in official competition, is already planning to leave the club and try something different, this is something that Zirkzee is not doing.
“So Zirkzee is fully focused on Manchester United.”
Further, Romano explained that due to his entirely new environment, Zirkzee will need to take some time to adapt, having joined a new club in a new league and living in a new country with a new language.
“Everything is completely new for Joshua Zirkzee, especially the league,” the Italian continued. “The Premier League is completely different compared to Serie A, especially for a technical player like Joshua Zirkzee.
“So, he’s taking some time to adapt, but he is not planning to ask Manchester United, ‘OK, let me leave already in a few weeks.’ This is something that Zirze is not doing.
“The complete focus is on Manchester United. The full focus is on Manchester United because he knows how important this chapter is for his career.
Also, Manchester United are ore than happy to wait for Joshua Zirkzee to develop, to keep going, same as they did with Rasmus Højlund.”
