Fabrizio Romano clarifies Jadon Sancho situation with further Man United discussions expected
Fabrizio Romano has clarified Jadon Sancho’s situation at Manchester United after he returned to training earlier this week.
Sancho, 24, had not trained with United’s first-team squad since the beginning of September last year.
He was exiled from the squad by Erik ten Hag following a game against Arsenal after the winger suggested that the manager had lied about his exclusion in a social media post.
Sancho trained individually at Carrington until January, where he made a mid-season loan move to former club Borussia Dortmund.
It was fully expected that the 24-year-old would depart Old Trafford this summer, especially considering the fact that Ten Hag signed an extended deal at the club.
However, after the club confirmed that he had returned to team training this week and reports stated that he and Ten Hag decided to put their problems behind them, it seemed like staying became a serious possibility.
Fabrizio Romano has explained that there is still interest in the player from Juventus, but they need to make sales before making a final decision on which winger they want to persuit.
Otherwise, the Italian reporter added that the club will be discussing the situation in the coming days, with the player’s relationship with Ten Hag over the coming weeks important to understand where his position stands.
“Finally on United, Jadon Sancho keeps being linked with Juventus, though some reports now also suggest they have switched their focus elsewhere,” Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing.
“My understanding is that no decision has been made yet on the winger. The first step for Juventus is selling Federico Chiesa and/or Matias Soule, then they will decide which winger they want to sign.
“Man United will discuss the Sancho situation in the next days, he’s now back with the squad and his feeling with Erik ten Hag in the next weeks will be important to understand more on his future.”
