Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update regarding Bryan Mbeumo’s transfer to Manchester United, with the Red Devils working on reaching an agreement soon.
After getting off to the perfect start in the summer transfer window, things have since cooled down for Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United.
Top target Matheus Cunha was acquired within the first couple of weeks of the window for £62.5million, but since diverting their attention to Bryan Mbeumo, progress has stalled.
The Red Devils have been pursuing Brentford’s star man for well over a month now and have been seemingly edging closer to finalising the move, but there has still been no pen put to paper.
Many reports have stated clearly that a busy summer is expected at Old Trafford; therefore, United will be eager to complete this deal as soon as possible so they can move on to rejuvenating the rest of their squad after last season’s poor campaign.
Fabrizio Romano Mbeumo latest
The long-lasting nature of this saga has caused impatience to grow for many United supporters, but Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest update.
In a fresh update, Romano said, “Manchester United’s absolute focus remains on Bryan Mbeumo deal with talks set to continue this week.”
He continued by saying, “No agreement with Brentford last week but MUFC keep working on it and Bryan also keeps giving priority to United move. Deal on.”
This post can encourage all who have been growing concerned about a lack of progress with this deal. It still seems like an inevitability that the 25-year-old will be a United player in just a matter of time, but will he join in time for the start of pre-season?
United internationals allow Mbeumo deal more time
It is well known that United want Mbeumo to be at the club for the first day of pre-season, which is due to commence at Carrington today, Monday, 7 July.
Although the Cameroonian isn’t present for the opening day of pre-season, neither are many of United’s stars.

Many of United’s key players featured for their international sides once the domestic campaign came to a close, and these players have been given an extra few days off, meaning they will join the squad on Thursday, 10 July.
These extra few days give the Red Devils some additional leeway to try and finalise this Mbeumo deal. All at United, especially Amorim, will be desperate to have their new main target present as early into pre-season as possible.
