Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that one of Rúben Amorim’s current crop has not been told to leave Manchester United this summer.
Manchester United are shifting their focus to the final three signings of the summer as Rúben Amorim prepares for his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.
The club have already completed deals for Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo. Cunha and Mbeumo are expected to form two-thirds of a new-look attacking trio, while 18-year-old Leon will operate as understudy to Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu at left wing-back.
With five weeks remaining in the transfer window, United are targeting an experienced centre-forward, a defensive midfielder and a goalkeeper to compete with André Onana.
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško has been identified as their preferred option up front. While the club may still consider player sales, including the possible departure of Alejandro Garnacho, reports suggest they do not need to sell to fund a move for Šeško.
United exploring Šeško swap deal
According to MailSport, United have initiated contact with Leipzig via intermediaries to register their interset in the 22-year-old striker this summer.
The report claims that, while Šeško would be available for around £60-70 million-plus-add-ons, United would consider engaging in a swap deal to lower the overall cost of a deal.
While Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia are all available for transfer, MailSport claim that striker Rasmus Højlund, who has also been touted as a “dream” target for Leipzig, is also on offer.
United’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, is well known to be a strong advocate for Šeško, who he initially scouted for the Red Bull group. At the same time, Newcastle also remain in the race and are ready to submit an offer if he indicates a preference to join them over the Old Trafford club.
Højlund has not been told to leave
Despite United reportedly considering a swap deal, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed on his YouTube channel that Højlund is determined to stay at the club and fight for his place, with the club currently showing no signs of pushing him out.
Speaking after scoring in a recent friendly against Bournemouth, Højlund made his stance clear: he wants to stay, compete, and prove himself at Old Trafford.
Romano “guarantees” that, as of now, “no one” from the United hierarchy, whether management, directors, or coaching staff, has told Højlund he is no longer part of the project. The player feels comfortable at the club and remains focused on fulfilling his ambition of succeeding at United.
While the situation could change if the club were to actively seek a sale later in the window, Højlund’s current position is firm. He wants to stay and is ready for the competition, with no indication from United suggesting otherwise.
