Fabrizio Romano explains what Manchester United’s next bid for Bryan Mbeumo contains, it should be accepted

Manchester United are set to table a third bid for Bryan Mbeumo in an effort to secure Rúben Amorim his second signing of the summer.

Manchester United are continuing talks over what is expected to be their second signing of the summer, with a move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo edging closer to completion.

Rúben Amorim is keen to strengthen his attacking options following the arrival of Matheus Cunha earlier this month, though discussions with Brentford over Mbeumo have been drawn out.

An opening £55 million offer for the 25-year-old was rejected in early June, and a second proposal — matching the same base fee with an additional £7.5 million in add-ons — has also been turned down.

Despite Brentford’s stance, confidence remains high that a deal will be struck. Once Mbeumo arrives, United are expected to press ahead with player exits and continue their push for a striker and midfielder ahead of the Premier League’s mid-August kickoff.

What United are changing in their next Mbeumo bid

Multiple reports have detailed that although United’s second bid was turned down, Brentford are satisfied with the base fee of £55 million and are instead focusing on securing £10 million in add-ons too raise the bid value to £65 million, with a change in the structure of the payment terms.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United are now preparing an improved offer for Bryan Mbeumo, with the club now focusing on the structure of the deal rather than just raising the transfer fee.

Talks with Brentford remain ongoing, and United are working to include more favourable payment terms, such as a significant up-front sum, along with a detailed package of add-ons.

Romano reports on his YouTube channel that the new proposal will feature a mix of easy and more challenging performance-based bonuses, as United look to find common ground with Brentford. The aim is to present a deal that meets the selling club’s expectations without breaking United’s financial framework.

While an agreement has not yet been reached, United remain confident and optimistic. Mbeumo is said to be fully committed to the move, giving more than just “priority” to joining the club – it’s described as a clear choice, and Brentford are aware of the player’s stance.

Negotiations are still active, and United hope the improved structure of their offer will lead to a breakthrough in the coming days.

United must accelerate their window after Mbeumo signs

United can be somewhat excused for focusing all their efforts on securing the Mbeumo deal, as they are pushing to sign the player before United’s pre-season starts on 7 July.

However, once Cunha and Mbeumo are both through the doors at Old Trafford, United must step up their sales in the transfer window, or they risk being left behind and starting the season poorly.

United have at least £150 million worth of players that are set to head out this summer, but there has so far been little concrete interest in any of those like Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Tyrell Malacia.

Antony looks set to join Real Betis in the coming weeks, which will give United some financial freedom. However, if United cannot sanction several sales this month, the chances of signing a new striker and midfielder in time for the start of the Premier League season will become worryingly slim.
