Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United’s decision regarding one of their stars is ‘quite clear’ with a summer departure in mind.
Manchester United’s summer transfer business has looked to have paid off so far, with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Senne Lammens all being frequent starters for the Reds.
United have looked considerably better off since their £200million summer expenditure, and now sit fourth in the Premier League table.
As for their departures, the Reds tried to find permanent homes for some of their want-away stars, although for a couple of their players, they had to settle for season-long loan deals.
One of these players out on loan is Andre Onana, who was displaced in the United squad by Lammens late into the summer transfer window, and was sent to Trabzonspor for the season.
Onana set for summer sale
When discussing the future of the Cameroonian shot-stopper on his YouTube channel this week, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano weighed in by telling United fans that Onana is ‘sure’ to leave the club.
Romano said, via Stretty News, “Who’s going to leave the club? For sure, in the summer, it’s going to be Andre Onana.
“Onana is on loan at Trabzonspor, and Man United’s decision is already quite clear: they’re not expected to continue with Onana next summer. The idea is to part ways and find a solution.”
It is still unclear as to where the 29-year-old will spend the next years of his career, but the one certainty is that he will not remain at Old Trafford.
Onana made 102 appearances for the club across the 2023/24 campaign and 2024/25 season.
Where next for Onana?
Despite starting 16 of Trabzonspor’s fixtures in the Super Lig so far, Onana’s loan contract didn’t include any obligation to buy, meaning that the Turkish side would have to open talks with the Reds if they wanted to sign him permanently.
It was reported last week, via Stretty News, that Onana’s representatives discussed the possibility of a return to Inter Milan, although Romano has stated that he isn’t aware of any talks.
The Italian insider said, “There were reports in England about a potential return to Inter. I’m not aware of that.
“His agents were in Milan, yes, but his agents are in a powerful agency that is working on several deals, and they were in Milan on separate topics, not for an Inter move [for Onana].
“But there will be several clubs interested in Onana. He’ll assess all his options, and what I can tell you today is that Onana is expected to leave Manchester United and try a different kind of experience in the 2026/27 season.”
