Fabrizio Romano confirms Richard Rios price-tag as Manchester United’s stance on Palmeiras star revealed

Palmeiras star Richard Rios has been one of the most exciting players at the Club World Cup and Manchester United have been linked with the midfielder.

Manchester United are looking to sign a midfielder for Ruben Amorim’s squad later this summer after strengthening their frontline.

Bryan Mbeumo is being pursued to support the already-signed Matheus Cunha, and then the Reds will attempt to bring in a striker.

After that, the next priority is the engine room, with reports claiming that Amorim wants to sign another energetic option in midfield.

Several players have been linked and fans are curious as to whether Palmeiras star Richard Rios is on the club’s list due to his exciting performances for the Brazilian side.

United’s stance on Palmeiras star Rios revealed

Rios, 25, stood out for Palmeiras at the Club World Cup and even impressed when they were knocked out against Chelsea in the quarter-finals, grabbing an assist in the 2-1 defeat.

Previous reports stated that United were interested in signing the Brazilian last summer but Palmeiras were not willing to sell him below his £85 million release clause at that time.

It is now being suggested that the Reds remain interested in him and are weighing up a potential bid soon now that he has returned from the United States.

That’s according to a recent report from GiveMeSport, which explained that Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell had sent scouts to watch Rios during the Club World Cup.

There are other Premier League clubs interested in the player while reports have also revealed that Inter Milan and AS Roma are considering a move.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Rios price-tag

Despite Rios’ large release clause still being active – with three years remaining on his contract – Palmeiras are no longer demanding that amount for a transfer.

It has been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that the Brazilian club are now requesting around £26 million for their talented midfielder.

Many United fans would consider that good value for the kind of player Rios is, although there is some concerns about the deal as well.

The most significant worry would be the adaption process, with Rios never playing outside of South America, and United seeming to prioritise Premier League experience this summer.
