Fabrizio Romano has confirmed “concrete interest” in one Manchester United star this summer, although Rúben Amorim’s stance on him is clear.
Manchester United are preparing for a major summer overhaul as the club look to reshape Rúben Amorim’s squad at Old Trafford and generate substantial funds in the process.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS team are expected to approve the departures of at least ten senior players, with several leaving as their contracts expire and others considered surplus to requirements under Amorim’s plans.
Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelöf, and Jonny Evans are all set to depart when their deals end in June, while Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are among those likely to be sold, with the club hoping to bring in well over £100 million from those sales alone.
Uncertainty still surrounds the futures of several other players, including Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, and Alejandro Garnacho, as United look to relieve financial pressure while rebuilding the squad.
Romano confirms concrete interest in Onana
Another player whose future remains up in the air is André Onana. The Cameroon international has been subject to intense criticism of late amid a series of mistakes and poor performances.
While United are just one step from the Europa League final, Onana’s costly errors against Olympique Lyonnais in the quarter-final almost cost them dearly, and he has since been rested or dropped for two Premier League ties.
According to Fabrizio Romano via GiveMeSport, there is now “strong and concrete interest” in the player from Saudi Arabian clubs. The Saudi Pro League teams are keen to sign yet another star from the Premier League to further boost their global reach.
However, the Italian journalist also confirmed that, as far as Onana’s point of view is concerned, the shot-stopper wants to stay at United, and that no decision has been made on his future.

According to UtdDistrict’s sources, Amorim likes Onana and continues to trust him despite his mistakes of late.
“If you look at the season, I’ve made more mistakes than them during these last games and during these last months,” Amorim said when asked about Onana’s current predicament and poor form.
“There’s nothing I can say to Andre in this moment that will help him, so the most important thing is to be natural and then when the time comes, I will choose the best XI to play. But I’m really confident in Andre.”
