Manchester United have rejected transfer approaches from Serie A clubs for Victor Lindelöf in the January transfer window, UtdDistrict understands.

Victor Lindelöf recently had his Manchester United contract extended after he ended the final six months of his deal at the beginning of January.

Lindelöf is seen as an important part of the squad at Old Trafford and has played a total of 18 games so far for Erik ten Hag, helping to cover for lengthy injuries to Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez.

UtdDistrict understands that Manchester United have had to reject multiple approaches from Seria A clubs for Lindelöf during the January window amid interest in the Sweden international.

Although the specific clubs are not named, it is thought that the Serie A teams are of European level.

Speaking recently, Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio spoke about Lindelof’s potential future in the Serie A, explaining that there is only one club that Lindelöf could realistically sign for in Italy.

“It depends on his motivations, but I know he wants to play, so it depends on who gives him the possibility to play,” Di Marzio said.

“Ibrahimovic has started a new role at Milan but doesn’t have the power to say which players the club should sign like Lindelöf.

“The Napoli chairman doesn’t want players that are older than 30 years of age.

‘The only possibility could be AS Roma because they need an extra defender, but they have a financial agreement with UEFA for financial fair play, so they can’t sign players if they don’t sell players. They could sell players such as Llorente or Spinazzola, or Renato Sanches, whose salary is so high. If Sanches goes they can use his salary to get another player on loan.”
