Everton inform Manchester United of Jarrad Branthwaite transfer status as 2025 summer price tag revealed

According to new information, Everton have now informed Manchester United of Jarrad Branthwaite’s transfer status as his 2025 price tag is revealed.

Manchester United are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, with Rúben Amorim keen to strengthen a defence that has struggled for consistency throughout the season.

The January additions of Ayden Heaven from Arsenal and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu from Lecce offered short-term cover, but issues remain—particularly with Lisandro Martínez now sidelined until November.

Several current defenders are likely to depart. Victor Lindelöf will leave when his contract expires in June, and Jonny Evans is also expected to move on.

The futures of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are also uncertain. Shaw has been out of action for nearly a year due to injury, while Malacia, currently on loan at PSV, does not feature in Amorim’s long-term plans.

Everton tell United Branthwaite’s situation

United’s 2024 summer transfer window was mostly dominated by headlines surrounding their pursuit of Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who Erik ten Hag was heavily targeting.

However, the two clubs could not agree on a transfer fee as Everton were looking for around £75 million, while United’s final offer sat at around £50 million including add-ons.

Reports earlier this year have stated that the 22-year-old would be open to joining United this summer, with Branthwaite concerned that if he does not step up to a bigger club soon, he may lose his place with England.

According to Everton News, the Merseyside club have now communicated to Amorim’s team that Branthwaite is not for sale this summer amid rumours that United are plotting a £50 million summer bid.

The 22-year-old still has three years left on his current contract with The Toffies and an extension is an option that is still being explored.

What is Branthwaite’s transfer price?

Further, the report states that despite the player having a less consistent season than during 2023/24, Everton have not budged on their asking price.

Despite their stance that the player remains off the market, it’s stated that if any interested parties were to lodge a bid during the 2025 summer window, an offer sat at around £70-80 million would be considered by David Moyes’ team.

With Amorim switching United to a side that now plays with three central defenders, the Portuguese head coach no doubt needs many reinforcements across his back line.

The 40-year-old currently has Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Martínez, Shaw, Noussair Mazraoui, and Heaven as centre-back options, while Evans and Lindelöf are both expected to depart.

It has been said that United greatly appreciate that Branthwaite is left-footed, and with Martínez and Heaven both the same, the 22-year-old would add to Amorim’s options in the left centre-back and middle centre-half positions.
