Everton and West Ham are reportedly eyeing a swoop for one of Manchester United’s forwards after he wasn’t handed minutes against Sunderland.
Manchester United wrapped up their recent run of fixtures with a superb 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
First-half goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Šeško secured the victory on Saturday afternoon, lifting the atmosphere around the club as the Premier League pauses for the October international break.
It was also a special day for Senne Lammens, who finally made his debut after joining on deadline day last summer. The Belgian goalkeeper impressed with a composed display, confidently claiming crosses, making a couple of tidy saves, and keeping a clean sheet.
After a difficult spell under Rúben Amorim, the Sunderland result has provided a welcome boost and renewed optimism as United head into the break.
Zirkzee wants to leave United this summer
Joshua Zirkzee joined United from Bologna in the summer of 2024 for £36 million, brought in to challenge Rasmus Højlund for the striker role.
Although he scored on his debut, the Dutchman initially struggled to settle at United after missing pre-season. His fortunes changed when Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, as he earned a regular spot in the starting XI.
Zirkzee went on to start 21 consecutive Premier League matches under Amorim before a hamstring injury against Newcastle in April halted his progress. He returned for the penultimate game of the season but suffered another setback during the summer.
This season, the 24-year-old has featured just four times, all as a substitute, and reports now suggest he is considering a January exit in pursuit of regular football to boost his chances of making the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Everton and West Ham on alert for Zirkzee
According to the British media, Zirkzee’s decision regarding his future comes after he was not given any minutes during the recent win over Sunderland.

It is also noted that the Dutchman will consider remaining in the Premier League, with both loans or a permanent transfer on the table.
Amidst his pending availability, David Moyes’ Everton and London club West Ham are reportedly two sides on alert should the Dutchman actively push for an exit in January.
However, they will no doubt face signifiacnt competition from Serie A clubs, with Napoli known to hold a key interest in him, while Juventus and Como also tried to secure the player last summer.
