European giants to make £42m offer for Bruno Fernandes as Manchester United make January decision

Manchester United could see the departure of their star player as a European giant are in talks to make a £42 million offer for United’s captain and star man, Bruno Fernandes.

Manchester United have relied heavily on the magic of Portuguese magnifico, Bruno Fernandes, to dig the club out of difficult situations over the past seven seasons.

The most recent occasion saw Fernandes’ crucial equalising free kick in an exhilarating 4-4 draw with AFC Bournemouth, as the captain rifled a dead ball into the top right corner in another stellar performance.

Talks over a potential exit for the 31-year-old have been up in the air over the past couple of transfer windows as a move to Saudi Arabia was personally denied by Fernandes himself last season.

With his current contract expiring in June 2027 and United looking to revive their midfield, an exit for Fernandes could be on the cards with one club in particular looking to make a move.

Bayern Munich in talks for a £42m offer for Fernandes

According to Fichajes, German titans Bayern Munich are in talks over a £42 million offer for the Portuguese star.

Bayern Munich have made their fair share of Premier League-proven signings to strengthen their sides they look to make their mark in the Champions League again.

Vincent Kompany’s side brought in the likes of Luis Diaz, Nickolas Jackson, Michael Olise and most notably Harry Kane in recent years, all of which have continued to shine in the Bundesliga.

Their next recruit could come in the form of Fernandes, providing the creative initiative needed for Bayern to get the best out of their attacking talents.

Bayern could present a more suitable project for Fernandes to potentially be the key in their system, in a league that also gives Fernandes a lot more time on the ball to create.

Fernandes is still United’s core outlet

With five goals and seven assists in 17 games under Ruben Amorim this season, Fernandes has continued to prove the elite quality that he offers in an inconsistent Man United side.

Amorim has relied heavily on Fernandes’ partnership with Casemiro as Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have struggled to suit the demands of the profiles in the midfield of Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

The £42 million offer reflects Bayern’s serious intent to revive hopes of European triumph as they faced defeat away to Arsenal in the Champions League.

The loss of Fernandes would send shockwaves down the core of the club as he is United’s captain, primary source of goals and is a major presence in the dressing room. United are certain that they do not want to lose Fernandes in January, although a summer move cannot be ruled out.

Fernandes himself reportedly views a change of scenery favourably, as the move would give him the opportunity to compete for titles in a more stable club.
