Manchester United’s talented winger and fan favourite Amad has been attracting interest from multiple clubs, according to reports.
Amad, the 22-year-old Ivorian, has shown flashes of brilliance this season and remains a player Manchester United are not actively looking to sell.
However, the club are desperately looking to raise funds, and reports from TeamTalk state that there are clubs interested in signing him this summer.
United’s financial pressures are mounting, especially with £90 million still owed in transfer fees for Andre Onana, Mason Mount, and Antony. Under Profitability and Sustainability Rule (PSR) requirements, some player sales appear inevitable to help fund Ruben Amorim’s planned squad overhaul in summer 2025.
Among the interested clubs, AC Milan have emerged as key suitors for Amad, the report reveals, with the Serie A giants seeing him as a versatile attacking option to strengthen their squad. His pace, dribbling, and eye for goal have made him a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and his departure would likely upset United supporters.
Amad makes feelings clear on United future
Amad signed a new long-term deal at Old Trafford earlier this season but after a dreadful campaign there are question marks over every United player.
However, the Ivorian has made his stance clear after the Europa League final defeat with an emotional message to United fans on social media.
“First of all, I would like to congratulate Tottenham on their victory, and then apologise to all Manchester fans around the world. It’s been an unacceptable season, and no one can deny that, but we always put our motivation on the pitch,” the 22-year-old wrote.
“I promise you that a season like this will never happen again at this great club. Thank you all for your support throughout the season; you’ve been by our side no matter what.”
After recently claiming that he wants to stay at Old Trafford for the rest of his career, it seems like Amad wants to help turn things around.
Man United sales necessary for Amorim’s major rebuild
Amorim has been taken aback by the extent of the rebuild required at United, especially with pressure rising after their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham.
Currently sitting 16th in the Premier League, Amorim’s goal is to push the club into the top four next season. To achieve this, significant squad reinforcements that fit his tactical approach are essential.
As a result, United may need to sell key players this summer, although it feels like Amad is one of the few players the club would be against letting go and he is clearly not keen to depart. Homegrown talent Alejandro Garnacho’s future remains uncertain, though.
Onana, whose inconsistent performances have attracted criticism, is another player who might leave. His costly errors, including in the recent loss to Tottenham, haven’t helped his standing at the club.
Meanwhile, captain Bruno Fernandes is drawing substantial interest from Saudi clubs. Although Fernandes remains committed to United’s project, he has admitted that he would leave if the club want him to. United could potentially earn around £120 million if they opt to sell him.
Amorim faces a challenging balancing act this summer, where he needs to shake up the squad and generate sales but he will not want to lose some of the few top talents at the club.
