Europa League star names Manchester United man has his “toughest” ever opponent and opens up on Rasmus Højlund

Bodø/Glimt winger Jens Petter Hauge has spoken on Rasmus Højlund’s future at Manchester United, revealing one Rúben Amorim player as his “toughest opponent”.

Rasmus Højlund has been subject to lots of criticism in recent weeks, with many fans believing he isn’t good enough to lead the line for Manchester United.

Speaking to TNT Sports before United’s clash with Lyon, Paul Scholes said, “He won’t be a 25-30 season guy, the evidence isn’t there”.

The former Red Devils midfielder also said, “I don’t think he [Højlund] is far away”, but it is clear he thinks Højlund isn’t good enough for Ruben Amorim’s United team.

At just 22 years old, the Danish striker has plenty of time to turn his career around, but his run of poor performances can’t easily be forgotten.

Hauge believes Højlund is a “top talent”

Bodø/Glimt winger Jens Petter Hauge, who has starred in the Europa League for the club, has given his take on Højlund at Manchester United, speaking on the RG YouTube channel.

“He’s [Højlund] a really exciting player and a top talent. Of course, it’s not easy going to Manchester United.”

“I was lucky to have played with his brother in Frankfurt for a few weeks, and we spoke a lot. I believe [Rasmus] still has a lot of football to play, he’s promising.”

Hauge was also asked about his toughest opponent, naming Matthijs de Ligt as a very good defender to play against.

The biggest one I’ve faced is, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus, although we didn’t play directly against each other as we’re both attackers. De Ligt was really tough, I faced him at Juventus and Bayern, so I’d maybe go for him”

Højlund to be dropped for Newcastle

Højlund is set to be dropped for United’s trip to Newcastle after another poor performance away in Lyon.

The centre-forward was withdrawn for Joshua Zirkzee and the Dutchman scored in the 88th minute to draw the game level, going into the second leg at Old Trafford.

Zirkzee should start at Newcastle. he can keep possession better, and his first touch is levels above Højlund.

Andre Onana also looks set to lose his place in the starting XI, after two very poor goals conceded in France.
