Euro 2024 boss gives ‘fantastic’ Manchester United star the ultimate compliment
Serbia manager Dragan Stojkovic has given one ‘fantastic’ Manchester United star the ultimate compliment before their Euro 2024 clash.
Several United players have impressed at the summer competition so far, with Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay all scoring for their nations.
Ahead of the third group game, Eriksen will be hoping that Denmark can secure their place in the knockout stages of Euro 2024.
They face Serbia, who could go through the group with a victory against the Danes. Their boss, Stojkovic, has been extremely complimentary of Eriksen ahead of the clash.
The United midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, and many believed he would never touch a pitch again. Now, he has been one of the best-performing midfielders at Euro 2024 so far.
Stojkovic is delighted to see the 30-year-old at the competition but hopes that Kasper Hjulmand will decide to rest the midfielder on Tuesday evening.
As quoted by Bold, the Serbia boss said: “Christian Eriksen is one of the players who has marked an era in the world of football. I am really happy that he is with us and that he is here and playing.
“But I would love to see him on the bench because he is a fantastic player with a lot of intelligence.
“He is very precise in his game, and he has a very powerful kick. If he starts, we have to take good care of him.
“Our players are prepared for what Denmark brings, but we have to keep him away from the field, where he can hurt us.”
Rasmus Højlund is also expected to start, and he will be hoping to open his Euro 2024 account before the knockout stages.
