Ethan Ennis explains best attribute after completing Manchester United loan to Doncaster Rovers
Manchester United’s Academy star Ethan Ennis has explained his best attribute after completing his first loan move to Doncaster Rovers.
Manchester United confirmed the loan departure of Ethan Ennis on Friday, marking their first outgoing deal of the mid-season window.
Ennis has been in impressive form for the club’s Under-21 side this season, scoring 10 goals and providing several assists, showcasing his readiness for the transition to senior football.
The 20-year-old recently demonstrated his goalscoring prowess with a hat-trick against National League side Altrincham in the National League Cup, proving his potential against experienced opposition.
Ennis has been regularly involved in first-team training sessions at Carrington under Ruben Amorim and Erik ten Hag following his return from injury.
But after working hard to return to consistent football after long-term injury issues, the forward is now ready to take the next steps in his development.
He has joined League Two outfit Doncaster Rovers on loan for the remainder of the season, despite reported interest from clubs in higher divisions.
United loanee Ennis explains best attribute
The young attacker can play all across the frontline and is at his best when driving at opposition defenders, which is exactly what he’s going to try and do in League Two.
“I think I like to be direct and to try to make things happen, with and without the ball,” Ennis said during his first interview with Rovers, when asked about his playstyle.
“Whether that’s running with the ball, running without the ball and ultimately trying to score goals.”
Those who follow the Academy at United will not be surprised that Ennis highlighted his directness as his main quality but he also offers great skill, work-rate and link-up play which can make him an exciting player.
Ennis receives message from Doncaster boss
Doncaster boss Grant McCann has been really complimentary of the “really exciting” signing of Ennis and the United loanee has explained what the manager has said to him.
“Ever since I was informed that Grant was interested in signing me, it was something I was really interested in,” Ennis added.
“Then coming down, meeting the manager and the rest of the lads, I’ve found it really exciting.
“He thinks I can suit how the team plays, bring my qualities to the team and it go hand in hand. Hopefully it’ll be a success.”
Ennis’ first taste of professional action could come in the FA Cup third-round on Sunday, with Doncaster facing Championship side Hull City.
