Erik ten Hag could be set to make a huge change to his Manchester United line-up against Aston Villa after one player posted a cryptic message online.

Ten Hag has seen an upturn in results for his United side since the turn of the year, with four wins and a draw in 2024 so far.

However, the team will face their biggest test so far on Sunday when they travel to face Aston Villa, who have lost just three games all season at Villa Park.

The Reds have almost got a fully fit squad, with multiple players coming back from injury in recent weeks. Although Lisandro Martínez has received a setback and will miss around six weeks of football.

Two players who have recently returned are André Onana and Sofyan Amrabat. The pairing both starred for their countries in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Onana has since returned to the lineup, whilst Amrabat was in the squad that won 3-0 against West Ham but did not appear from the bench.

Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo have both started the last three games together in midfield, but Ten Hag could split up the pair when United face Unai Emery’s side.

Amrabat posted a cryptic message on the eve of the game, uploading an image of himself in a United kit on Instagram without a caption.

This was the midfielder’s first United-related post on the app since United drew 0-0 against Liverpool in December. That was also his last start for the club.

Whilst Mainoo is the less experienced of the players Amrabat could replace, it seems more likely that Casemiro will come out of the team.

The replacement, if it is made, could be down to managing minutes of the Brazilian after he came back from a long-term injury.

Team news will be live from 15:30 GMT on Sunday afternoon, with the match kicking off an hour later on Sky Sports Main Event.
