Erik ten Hag has provided a hint towards his thinking for Manchester United’s front three to face Newcastle United in their Premier League clash.

The Reds will be facing Eddie Howe’s side following a disappointing result in Istanbul against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

However, in terms of Premier League form, the Old Trafford side have won five of their last six outings and will be hoping to prove themselves against a top team away from home.

The Magpies are missing 11 players for the clash as they go through their own injury crisis this term and United must be looking to punish them defensively.

Marcus Rashford is available again following his European ban, but there are question marks whether he should be starting the game.

Alejandro Garnacho is currently undroppable on the left wing, and that is Rashford’s favoured position. Meanwhile, Antony also impressed against Galatasaray.

But Ten Hag has stressed that Rashford can fit into the attacking lineup even with Garnacho playing from the left.

Asked whether it’s difficult to fit the pair into the team, considering they both favour the left side, the United boss responded: “You didn’t see our games? You didn’t see our games? We play against Copenhagen, they are both in the team, we play against Everton, they are both in the team. So now Rashy was suspended.

“Rashy can play from the right, and he likes to play from the right. But he can also play through in the middle, and also from the left, so he is really motivated.”

Considering his prior comments, too, it seems likely that Ten Hag will be looking to bring Rashford back into the team for the Newcastle game, either through the middle or on the right side.
