Erik ten Hag provides early team news ahead of Man United’s clash vs Fulham in FA Cup
Erik ten Hag has provided the latest updates on three Manchester United players ahead of the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final clash against Fulham on Sunday.
United’s win against Resl Betis on Thursday propelled them to the quarter-finals of the Europa League – where they will face Sevilla – but their attention now turns back to the domestic cup competition.
Following victories against Everton, Reading and West Ham in the prior rounds, Ten Hag’s men now face The Cottagers ahead of a potential Wembley return in the semi-finals.
There is an eagerness amongst the group at Old Trafford to win silverware for the second time this season after their Carabao Cup triumph in February.
Casemiro will be unavailable for this clash, with the Brazilian serving the first match of a four-game ban due to receiving his second straight red card of the season against Southampton last weekend.
“We did really well without Casemiro, against Arsenal, the two against Leeds,” explained Ten Hag during his latest press conference.
“I think we also did really well without Casemiro also at the start of the season, but I want to have Casemiro available, because he has a huge impact on our game.”
His replacement looks increasingly likely to be Marcel Sabitzer, with the manager explaining that he is monitoring Scott McTominay after he was unable to come off the bench against Real Betis.
“About the last game, that is why I didn’t bring him in, Scott McTominay,” added Ten Hag following the win on Thursday. “(As) he had some complaints. We have to see how that will progress in the coming hours and days.”
In the attack, it looks like Ten Hag could be without two of his forward men.
Despite returning to full training last week, Anthony Martial is unlikely to make his first appearance since February 1 until after the upcoming international break.
Right-winger Antony’s status is not yet confirmed after he missed out on the trip to Seville this week through illness.
“So we have to talk about [it] and I think Anthony Martial will not be available and Antony dos Santos, we have to see how he will progress,” Ten Hag told club media.
