Erik ten Hag provided major Man United boost ahead of FA Cup clash vs Newport
Manchester United are slowly returning to full strength as Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Amad Diallo are in training ahead of the FA Cup clash against Newport.
United have been blighted with injuries all season, something that has hampered Erik ten Hag’s side but an array of first-team stars are slowly coming back to fitness this month.
England defensive duo Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were pictured in training for the first time since December, as the pair have been out with groin and hamstring injuries, respectively.
Shaw was set to make his return to the starting XI in United’s last Premier League fixture, the 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspurs, but withdrew at the last second and was replaced by Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which was a surprise to many.
Although their return will give many at the club a morale boost, it is unknown if Maguire and Shaw will appear at Rodney Parade this weekend. Nevertheless, having the pair back ahead of the busy February period is a huge boost for Ten Hag.
Amad Diallo was also present, the Ivory Coast international was pictured battling with Antony as the two jostle for the starting winger positions. It is being reported that United are open to selling the Brazilian along with Jadon Sancho, so a spot could be opening up for Amad.
Despite the weather conditions, Carrington was feeling the full force of Storm Jocelyn, the players seem eager to return to action, and results should only improve with the returning cavalry.
United’s seemingly never-ending entry list has now been shortened to just Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial and Mason Mount, and it is expected that Ten Hag will provide an update on their return later this week.
