“That’s how it should work…” – Erik ten Hag praises one Man United star after Brighton win

Erik ten Hag praised one Manchester United star following their final Premier League match of the 2023/24 campaign.
United’s final game of the Premier League season saw them secure a 2-0 victory over Brighton, with goals from Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Højlund.
Despite the win, Erik ten Hag’s side have been far from successful this season. They finished a disappointing eighth in the league table.
Brighton tested United on the day, but it was two second-half goals which eventually provided the difference for The Reds.
Diogo Dalot latched onto a long ball from Casemiro to open the scoring and net his second Premier League goal of the campaign.
Interestingly, seeing the fullback in the box receiving a long pass from the back was not surprising. He has often made the same run throughout the season but had less success with the finishing touch.
Speaking about the game, Ten Hag was pleased with the defender for making the run for the goal but also suggested that he’d like to see similar movements from the players more accustomed to finishing the chance at the end.
“Absolutely, that is how it should work.,” said Ten Hag of Dalot’s run. “It does not only have to come from Diogo; our midfielders and forwards should make such movements.”
The manager was almost left speechless when asked about the United support across the course of the season.
“They are amazing,” he said. “I don’t know what to say, there are no words. They are in there with us in good times and bad times, and we have to pay them back.”
