Manchester United lost 4-0 against Crystal Palace on Monday evening, but Erik ten Hag was praised for one action he made in the second half.

It was an absolute disgrace of a performance. The worst of the season. And it seems that Ten Hag is on borrowed time.

The Reds now sit eighth in the Premier League and need a miracle to win the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Against Palace, despite the injuries, United were pathetic. Barely anyone expected a win, but not many would’ve predicted what followed.

Ten Hag praised after disgraceful action

Surprisingly, Ten Hag was praised for an action he made in the game. For one of the substitutes he made.

After Palace scored their third, the manager brought off £85 million Antony, who was completely anonymous in the game. He was replaced by defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Shortly beforehand, Antony produced simply disgraceful moment, when he passed the ball straight to a Palace defender on the break.

It wasn’t the poor action on the ball that has been criticised, however, but instead his reaction afterwards, where he seemed to try and blame Alejandro Garnacho for… making a run in behind the defence and not receiving the pass.

Former Liverpool player Danny Murphy praised the United manager for bringing Antony off the pitch shortly afterwards, stating that Antony was “moaning at everybody”.

Murphy told TalkSPORT: “I praise Ten Hag for that… his [Antony’s] attitude – moaning at everybody… well done Ten Hag. You may be losing but you don’t throw your arms in the air at your teammates.”

United are tiring

Antony’s actions summed up United’s performance: it was pathetic. Fans are simply tired at this point.

Injuries have been a valid excuse for a drop off this term, but not to the extent that many are portraying. This is the worst United team in Premier League history.
