Erik ten Hag needs Manchester United to complete three tasks in five days
Manchester United still have much to do for Erik ten Hag with the transfer window closing at 11 pm on Friday evening.
So far this window, Manchester United have recruited three new signings, and seen five permanent exits, a loan, and three players leave at the end of their contracts.
Erik ten Hag‘s club have spent around £165 million on Mason Mount, André Onana, and Ramsus Højlund, as well as raising £32.5 million in the sales of Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles, Fred, Matej Kovar, and Zidane Iqbal.

The club have also seen Brandon Williams leave for Ipswitch Town on loan, while David de Gea, Phil Jones, and Axel Tuanzebe’s contracts all having expired at the end of June.
But, despite, this, there are still three major scenarios that Ten Hag will need the club to pull through with before the window shuts.
#1 – Sell Harry Maguire
It is clear that Harry Maguire does not have much of a future at Manchester United – he has been stripped of his captaincy and has lost his place, falling behind Raphaël Varane, Victor Lindelöf, and Lisandro Martínez in the pecking order.
He has been linked with a move away all summer with West Ham United his most interested suitors, but a £30 million move fell through with issues relating to personal terms.
However, Sunday evening saw news break that he would still be interested in a loan move to the Hammers, but United would rather sell the centre-back if possible as they need to raise funds for Ten Hag.
It should be noted that West Ham’s renewed interest has been rebuked by Jason Burt of the Telegraph.
#2 – Sign Sofyan Amrabat
Sofyan Amrabat has been a headline name all summer this transfer window, largely down to Manchester United’s interest in him; but as of right now, the club are yet to send in a bid for the player.
News on Monday broke claiming that as no club have matched Fiorentina’s £26 million asking price, they are now open to letting the midfielder leave on loan with an option to buy, which suits United perfectly.
Amrabat is keen to join the club and would be a brilliant option for Ten Hag’s midfield – they must secure his signature.
#3 – Sign a left-back
Manchester United have been dealt rotten luck with respect to injuries, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out for a number of months – Shaw may not be back until November.
With this in mind, United are scouring the transfer scene for available left-backs, and four options have surfaced.
United have held discussions with Chelsea for Marc Cucurella, while they have also considered Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilón and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso.
Monday morning saw news emerge that they have also enquired about the availability of Brentford’s Rico Henry – but whoever they pick, they must make sure they secure the signing by Friday evening.
