Erik ten Hag has issued a stark warning to one of Manchester United’s new signings as an update on Kobbie Mainoo’s injury is given.

Manchester United are set to resume their Premier League campaign with an away fixture against Aston Villa, marking their seventh match of the season.

Erik ten Hag‘s squad has been experiencing a tough run, winning only three out of their ten games so far. In their latest outing, they squandered a 2-0 advantage against FC Porto, with Harry Maguire’s last-minute header salvaging a 3-3 draw.

Currently, Manchester United occupies 13th place in the league, while Aston Villa is enjoying a strong season under Unai Emery, sitting in 5th place, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

In their most recent game, Villa faced Bayern Munich in the Champions League, emerging victorious with a 1-0 win, thanks to a brilliant goal from substitute Jhon Duran.

Ahead of the tie, Ten Hag sent a warning to new signing Manuel Ugarte that he must make sure he begins to adapt to life in the Premier League as it’s a position the club need filling as soon as possible.

“We brought in new young players again, and we have to integrate them, like Manuel Ugarte,” he told reporters on Thursday evening in his pre-match press conference.

“The No.6 position was one of the positions we wanted to sign for this season, but he needs time to integrate. I know in top football you don’t get time, they have to perform immediately, but that’s not always realistic.

“Ugarte has to get used to our game model, he has to get used to his team-mates, he has to get used to the intensity of the Premier League.

Further, Ten Hag issued an update on the fitness of Kobbie Mainoo, explaining that the club will need to wait and see if the 19-year-old is fit enough to start after he missed out on the squad that played in Portugal.

“We have to wait and we have to see if he can play on Sunday, if he’s fit enough to start or be on the bench.”
