Erik ten Hag makes transfer U-turn after relationship “broke down” with Manchester United midfielder
Erik ten Hag has produced a transfer U-turn on one Manchester United player after their relationship broke down towards the end of last season.
Following their expenditures totalling £139 million on Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, Manchester United are actively seeking to recoup funds through player sales.
They have so far managed to gather over £60 million from selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, and others. The club are evaluating further market opportunities as the transfer window is set to close next Thursday.

United aim to strengthen their midfield before the 30 August deadline and have identified Paris St. Germain’s Manuel Ugarte as a primary target. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ugarte is eagerly pushing for a move to Old Trafford.
Although the club are looking to sanction further sales, one man who will not be leaving United this summer is 32-year-old midfielder Casemiro.
According to The Sun, although Ten Hag’s relationship with Casemiro broke down towards the end of last season, the Dutchman has been impressed since his return to United.
Reportedly, this has been so much so that he has shelved all plans to sell him and will keep him for a further season despite the club wanting him gone when the window opened in June.
Speaking two weeks ago, Ten Hag praised the Brazilian following United’s penalty shootout loss against Manchester City in the Community Shield.
“He has a pre-season, so he is very fit in this moment,” said the Dutch manager.
“I think, as a team, we work good together and I think that makes it for Case very easy. Then he can bring his skills in, and you can see his importance for the game and our team.”
Erik reiterated his praise for Casemiro in an interview with radio stations after the Wembley fixture, too.
“He is a big leader for us and very important for the team,” he added. “Attacking, defending, we are together.”
