It was far from a perfect performance, with Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall on the scoresheet for the visitors, but after back-to-back losses against Crystal Palace and Arsenal, it was a much-needed win.
The club’s final two games of the season are against Brighton away from home and the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
After the full-time whistle, Erik ten Hag used a microphone to address the fans in the stadium, telling them they would do everything they could to win the FA Cup final.
“On behalf of the players, staff and myself, I want to thank you all for the brilliant support during this season,” the Dutchman said.
“This season is not over yet. First, we go to Brighton, where we travel for three points, and then we go to Wembley. And I promise you those players will give everything to get that cup and bring it to Old Trafford.
“We are sure you will be there supporting us – thank you, you are the best supporters in the world.”
