Erik ten Hag has slammed the Manchester United squad for something he deemed to be “not okay” against Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

Manchester United played out their first draw of the season in a hard-fought 0-0 stalemate against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.

United started strong, dominating the early exchanges and creating several chances, but a series of saves from Dean Henderson thwarted them.

Despite persistent efforts from Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee, the breakthrough remained elusive. Palace grew into the game after the break, but neither side could find a way through, resulting in a frustrating deadlock for both teams.

Speaking after the game, Ten Hag felt his side played well, although they were not clinical enough in the box.

We ate the opponent alive in the first half, because we played decent football,” the Dutch manager told MUTV after full-time.

“In and out of possession, we dominated the game. We created good chances, but we were not decisive enough in the box of the opponent.”

Further, Ten Hag explained that the tie shifted in the second half once Palace had made some changes, but that although he is happy with the overall performance, the scoreline is “not okay” considering it felt very much like two points dropped.

“Take the chances and keep going, but you know also the attitude of the opponent after half-time will change, because they didn’t have control.

“You saw the reactions from the bench, and they stepped up after half-time, and also then they had some good moments. And André had a great save. We also had our moments in the second half, but in the end of the day, of course, we are disappointed.

“The performance is okay, but the score is not okay.”

Next, United will open their Europa League campaign for the season with a home tie against Dutch side FC Twente on Thursday evening.
