Erik ten Hag addresses Jadon Sancho transfer chances following Manchester United announcement
Erik ten Hag has addressed questions surrounding Jadon Sancho’s future after Manchester United confirmed that the star has rejoined the first-team squad.
Jadon Sancho, now 24, spent the latter half of last season away from Manchester United following a dispute with manager Erik ten Hag, who had excluded him from a matchday squad against Arsenal.
Sancho hasn’t played for United since the end of August last year, with Ten Hag attributing his absence to subpar training performances. In response, Sancho issued a public statement refuting this claim, which led to his exclusion from the squad and a six-month loan to Borussia Dortmund.

Contrary to expectations that he would be sold this summer, Sancho recently had an extensive conversation with Ten Hag, where they resolved their differences. As a result, Sancho has rejoined the United team and is fully participating in pre-season training.
Although United did not publish Ten Hag’s views on the matter during their club statement, the Dutch manager was asked about the situation following a 1-0 loss against Rosenborg during their pre-season friendly.
“As we said, we’ve drawn the line,” Ten Hag told reporters when asked about Sancho on Monday evening. “Manchester United needs good players, and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line, and we move on.”
When pressed further about whether Sancho’s reintroduction at United provides a fresh start for the player, Ten Hag only said, “We’ve drawn the line. We move on.”
This implies that, although Sancho is back in training with the team, his future remains unclear, which is in line with the most recent reports.
According to The Athletic, despite his return, there is an ambiguity as to whether Sancho will stay at United or if he is still available for transfer, with the club previously demanding around £40 million.
German transfer expert Florian Plettenberg has stated that United are “increasingly considering” keeping Jadon Sancho, and this is being discussed – although no final decision on his future has been made.
