Erik ten Hag highlights impact of 3 Man United players after 3-1 win vs Fulham
Erik ten Hag highlighted the roles of three Manchester United players as The Reds won 3-1 against Fulham in the FA Cup quarter-final.
United will be travelling to Wembley for the second time this season after winning the Carabao Cup in February.
It was a fourth consecutive 3-1 win in the competition for Ten Hag’s men who beat Everton, Reading and West Ham previously.
This game was not easy, however, with a late Fulham capitulation being the turning point in a match that United were one down. Following a handball on the line from Willian, Alexander Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva were sent off alongside the Brazilian.
Bruno Fernandes scored from the following penalty and then Marcel Sabitzer scored less than two minutes later. Fernandes added to his tally in the last minute to add insult to injury for the London-based side.
Speaking after the match, Ten Hag was full of praise for David de Gea, who kept United in the game with several crucial saves before the comeback, as well as the attacking duo of Antony and Jadon Sancho, who combined to win the penalty to get the equaliser.
“We created great opportunities and at half time we should have been up because I can’t remember a save from David in the first half,” Ten Hag said. “And in the second half, we came [into] difficulties out of the dressing room.
“It was tough. We conceded the goal from the set play and we needed David to survive the game because he had two great saves. And then the key moment it was a great attacking transition and really well done by Antony, really well done by Jadon (Sancho), and it was a clear and obvious penalty.”
