Manchester United return to Premier League action as they welcome Luton Town to Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United suffered yet another embarrassing defeat under Erik ten Hag after losing 4-3 to Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

After Rasmus Højlund put his new club 2-0 up inside 30 minutes, Marcus Rashford’s red card at the end of the first half saw the side capitulate to an eventual loss away from home, leaving them bottom of their Champions League group.

They next face Luton at Old Trafford, where Andrè Onana is expected to start – the goalkeeper has played every minute across all competitions for United this season.

In defence, Aaron Wan-Bissaka may be rested as his minutes need to be managed after returning from injury, so Diogo Dalot, who has occupied left back in recent games, would shift back to the right-hand side, with Sergio Reguilón returning to the XI.

Jonny Evans has been ruled out for “the next few weeks”, and this therefore forces Erik ten Hag to make a big change of reinstating Raphaël Varane to the starting team at a time when the Frenchman has been relegated to the bench. Varane would partner Harry Maguire, who is experiencing somewhat of a renaissance at centre-back.

In midfield, not much is expected to change, with Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes due to continue in the team – although McTominay and Eriksen may swap roles, with the Scotsman dropping deeper.

Up front, Ten Hag has once again backed Rashford to find his form, which indicates that the winger will continue to play despite scoring just one goal in 15 games so far this season.

Rasmus Højlund’s brace on Wednesday almost certainly guarantees his spot, while Alejandro Garnacho may get another chance on the left wing with Antony out of favour, which would mean Rashford starts on the right.
