Erik ten Hag explains dancing during Carabao Cup celebrations & hilarious reply to Roy Keane comment
Manchester United won the Carabao Cup on Sunday and manager Erik ten Hag celebrated with some dance moves alongside Lisandro Martinez and Antony.
The Dutchman brought along both of those players from Ajax last summer and they’ve been key to the turnaround at Old Trafford.
In Amsterdam, the trio won three trophies together and their dancing celebrations together were synonymous amongst that fanbase.
That’s now come across to England and the three new Red Devils wanted to continue their tradition together.
Ten Hag believes that winning a final is key to the development of this squad but that they need to continue working to be able to do some more dancing together.
“We have a history, Licha (Martinez) and Antony, in Amsterdam and we did some dancing,” the United manager told Sky Sports. “I hope we can do even more in the future but therefore we have to invest and sacrifice every day to win trophies.
“You have to celebrate. It is not business as usual, it is not a common day. We won a trophy and this trophy means something.”
People might think that winning a Carabao Cup does not warrant serious celebrations, but when you consider that United have not won a trophy for over five years – this could be an important stepping stone for the club.
“That is the feeling I get here and we have won something. We have to celebrate but after that point, you have to keep going because this cup can be the inspiration to get even more,” added Ten Hag.
During the manager’s post-match interview with Sky Sports, United legend Roy Keane poked fun at Ten Hag, saying that he should resign because of his dance moves.
Ten Hag laughed before replying, “Never, I hope we can do it more!”
