Erik ten Hag has detailed that he is focusing on football amid the potential sale of Manchester United in the coming months.

The Glazer family announced the possibility in November last year, alongside alternative options. However, now, it looks like a full takeover will be the most likely outcome with Qatari investors seemingly leading the race for the club.

Ten Hag was welcomed into the club with open arms by the United faithful last summer but it wouldn’t have taken him long to realise just how toxic the relationship is between ownership and fanbase at Old Trafford.

There was a planned protest on the date of his first-ever game at the Theatre of Dreams – a friendly against Real Vallecano, and then the second-largest protest to date against the Glazers before United’s triumph against Liverpool three games into the season. The largest being when they got that same fixture rescheduled in the wake of the European Super League debacle in 2021.

The Dutchman was clear in his message to the media, that he is letting the relevant parties deal with this situation as he focuses on the footballing aspects of a football team.

“We are following it,” he admitted during his latest press conference. “It’s our club, but we are focusing on football, on training and our way of play and games.

United’s manager was then quizzed on whether he’s had any communication from those in higher positions and roles since the news emerged.

“No. I must say from the start, yeah, they told me how the process is going,” added Ten Hag. “But I will focus on football and they are focusing on other parts and departments of the club. How to get everything, for instance, financed.”

The Glazers will have several different bids to analyse, with their ‘soft deadline’ for offers coming on Friday evening, and latest reports suggest that the club could be sold by the end of March.

United were overtaken by the American family in a controversial style in 2005 and have been handicapped by greed and incompetence from the Glazers ever since.
