Erik ten Hag delivers update on three Manchester United players ahead of West Ham clash
Erik ten Hag has delivered updates on three Manchester United players ahead of their Premier League clash against West Ham.
Manchester United came away from Turkey with a point in their Europa League clash against Fenerbahce on Thursday evening which continues their underwhelming record in Europe.
Erik ten Hag’s side are without a win in nine attempts in Europe over the last year but must now turn their focus back to the Premier League.
The Reds are now 10th in the table after their latest win against Brentford and must try to build momentum with an upcoming game against West Ham providing a great opportunity.
Julen Lopetegui’s team have disappointed so far this season. They currently sit 15th in the table with two wins in their opening eight games.
Ahead of this fixture, United boss Ten Hag has provided updates on several players and confirmed that two are expected to return to the team.
Ten Hag provides triple United update
Bruno Fernandes and Jonny Evans both missed the trip to Istanbul in midweek for different reasons. The club captain was suspended following his red card against FC Porto while Evans suffered an injury which ruled him out.
After explaining that the team would remain in Turkey for the evening after their Thursday night result, Ten Hag said that he expected both Fernandes and Evans to return for West Ham.
“We’re staying overnight [in Turkey] and then straight to London, training Saturday,” Ten Hag confirmed.
“We expect, of course, Bruno back and, hopefully, also Jonny Evans.”
The manager was then asked about Antony, who was forced off the pitch against Fenerbahce with an injury after coming off the bench midway through the second half.
“I haven’t seen it, it’s only what I have to tell you out of the second hand, so from the doctor and the physio, who told me what they saw,” added the Dutchman.
“So, first, I have to see the video before I can give comment on this.”
