After the termination of Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract, Manchester United are looking to bolster their forward line this coming transfer window.
With Ronaldo gone and Anthony Martial flirting with injury multiple times so far this season, Manchester United are lacking in the front department. Erik ten Hag has confirmed that he wants to sign a striker in the coming window.
In terms of starting XI, the front line is the least well-settled area, with the goalkeeper, back line, and midfield almost selecting themselves. Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga, Martial and Alejandro Garnacho have all been vying for spots across the front three, with only Marcus Rashford really cementing a place in Ten Hag’s preferred side.
Manchester United have been linked to a number of players in the recent windows, with names such as Memphis Depay and Cody Gakpo circulating in the press, and Erik ten Hag has admitted that he wants to secure a new forward in the coming window.
“Yes but only when we find the right player,” he said.
“We do everything in our power. We are doing research on every opportunity and we do everything we can if that opportunity is there to contract them.”
In related news surrounding the future of the Red Devil attacking line, Marcus Rashford has been attracting a lot of interest from French club, PSG.
“Maybe, summer, why not?” Was the response of current PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi when he was asked about the possibility of signing Marcus Rashford this coming summer.
“He’s another player that is really amazing,” Al-Khelaifi said. “And for free? To have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely.”
Erik ten Hag, in the face of this interest, is incredibly keen to keep Rashford at the club. “From the first moment, I recognised huge potential,” he recently commented. “When Marcus is on the back of the defending line, there is almost no better player in the world. It’s really difficult to stop him.”
