Erik ten Hag has provided yet another bizarre comment after Manchester United drew 1-1 against Burnley in their Premier League encounter.

The Reds were unable to win two Premier League fixtures in a row for the first time since mid-February.

Antony’s first goal of the league campaign was cancelled out by a late penalty from the visitors at Old Trafford.

Vincent Kompany’s side had 53 per cent of the possession and managed to generate 1.87 expected goals. United’s xG was slightly higher at 1.92.

Yet, the fact that the stats and the game itself were so close is an indicator of what is going wrong for Ten Hag this season.

The openness of his team means that these teams can easily generate a high amount of chances. Burnley’s 16 shots were relatively modest compared to other games.

However, Ten Hag believed that his side deserved to win the game after producing a “dominant” performance, a comment that has baffled many United supporters.

The manager told club media: “We are disappointed. If you are controlling and dominating the game, and then give it away, it’s frustrating.”

One fan wrote in response: “Is he see another game it was open game we didn’t dominant at all, if he think this is domination they he has to go.”

“What is this guy smoking. Burnley outplayed us at home. He has to go,” another stated.

A third added: “How are we even dominating this game it’s very clear Burnley deserved to win.”
