Erik ten Hag has dropped a big hint over one Manchester United transfer after he praised one Euro 2024 star.

The United boss has been back at Carrington this week and is preparing for the upcoming pre-season fixtures.

Joshua Zirkzee is expected to become the first summer signing after completing a medical at Carrington and Matthijs de Ligt is also closing in.

A report from the Mirror has now claimed that Ten Hag is now weighing up whether to move forward with a potential loan move for the Netherlands’ star Xavi Simons.

‌The Dutch manager said: “I enjoyed Xavi Simons in that game (against England). The drive he has, the passion with which he conquers balls and recognises situations are top.

“His enormous drive as well. That is almost un-Dutch. I think you can see that he was trained abroad. He almost has a southern European doggedness in his game.”

According to a recent article from The Sun, Manchester United have expressed strong interest in PSG starlet Xavi Simons, joining Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig in the pursuit.

The French club has yet to make a final decision regarding Simons’ future, but he is expected to leave the Parc des Princes in the coming months due to his desire for more playing time.

The report suggests that any deal would likely be a loan with an obligation to buy, rather than a permanent transfer. PSG aims to delay selling Simons until after 2024 when PSV Eindhoven’s sell-on clause expires.

The article also indicates that a permanent move would likely be valued at around £70 million for the talented Dutch player, who scored once and provided three assists at Euro 2024.
