Erik ten Hag “aware” of INEOS intentions as Man United sack decision concludes soon
Erik ten Hag is reportedly aware of INEOS’ intentions as a decision surrounding his Manchester United future is set to be announced in the coming days.
Erik ten Hag‘s future at Manchester United remains uncertain, with the club yet to determine if he will continue as manager beyond this summer. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team are conducting a thorough “season review” of the Dutchman’s tenure, and a final decision is still pending.
As part of this review, potential replacements for Ten Hag are being considered in case of his departure. Among the frequently mentioned candidates have been Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto de Zerbi, Thomas Frank, and Gareth Southgate.

However, a Sunday report revealed that after Ratcliffe met with Tuchel last week, the German boss decided to withdraw from candidacy for the role. Nevertheless, this proves that INEOS intends to contact potential replacements directly.
According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Ten Hag is aware of these reports and, therefore, is aware that INEOS are currently intending to seriously consider alternative options.
Solhekol further explains that the Dutchman’s intentions have always been to stay at Old Trafford, but he is realistic about expectations surrounding his future at the club.
Ten Hag is proud of winning two trophies in two years at United, having secured both the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024, and given time, he is confident that United’s form in the Premier League form would improve under him.
Finally, it’s concluded that he would continue working as a manager regardless of the decision INEOS eventually make.
This decision, whether to sack or retain the manager beyond the end of last season, is set to be concluded in the coming days.
Reports from the last week across a variety of outlets have explained that a decision will be reached this week, just short of three weeks after Ten Hag defeated Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
