Eric Bailly receives 7 MATCH BAN after kung-fu kicking a player during French Cup fixture
Eric Bailly, currently playing in Marseille after joining the French club on loan from Manchester United for the season, has been handed a seven-match ban for a reckless tackle during a French Cup fixture.
Starting for Olympique Marseille against fourth division side Hyeres two weeks ago, Bailly threw himself stud-first into Moussa N’Diaye, where Bailly’s right foot connected in rather horrific fashion with the right-hand side of N’Diaye’s chest.
N’Diaye had to be taken to hospital after the challenge, with medics wanted to perform extra checks on his condition after he had treatment on the field in the immediate aftermath.

Bailly received a straight red card for the challenge at the time, and was barred from playing any further fixtures until a punishment had been settled on – he has missed two Marseille fixtures since the incident.
La Provence, a media & news outlet who cover Marseille, have now reportedly revealed that Eric Bailly’s punishment for the red card offence is a seven game ban, in which he has already served the first two matches.
“Eric Bailly is suspended for 7 MATCHES after his red card against Hyeres! He has already served two,” the tweet reads.
With Manchester United and Erik ten Hag seemingly pretty settled on his centre-back options for the time being, this incident and ban will not do much to help any case Bailly may make to break his way back into the United squad next season.
With Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane having formed a stable and quality partnership, it is becoming increasingly likely that Bailly will be moved on permanently in the summer.
