Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has seemingly disagreed with his agent over his next potential destination.

Van de Beek, 27, has had difficulties on loan at Eintranct Frankfurt this term. He moved on loan in January and has started just four Bundesliga games since then.

The former Ajax star has had a dismal time on the pitch since making his move to Manchester United in the summer of 2020.

Now, it seems almost certain that he will leave the Old Trafford club on a permanent transfer, but his next destination is currently unknown.

However, a return to the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam is something that his agent, Guido Albers, believes is not an option, as well as remaining in the Premier League.

“Donny does not want to stay in the Premier League, also because United do not want that. That is not a good choice for him. He needs to return to a club that plays good football. In any case, he will not return to Ajax,” Albers told ESPN.

However, in an interview with Ziggo Sport, Van de Beek appeared open to an Ajax return four years after departing the Eredivisie club.

“Why not?” he replied when asked about the prospect. “Ajax has always been a special place for me, so we certainly cannot rule that out. At Ajax, only one thing matters: winning and becoming champions.

“Now European football and fifth place is the highest achievable after a turbulent year. It’s difficult now, but Ajax always bounces back.

“I have also had mixed years due to injuries. But now I’m looking forward again. If I keep working hard, I’m confident things will turn out fine.

“It is up to you to turn it around. I’m working on that. I am convinced of my own qualities. If I stay fit and keep working hard, I will definitely be fine.”
