“Doesn’t sit right with me…” – Teddy Sheringham slams 142-goal star as Man Utd forced to consider offer

Manchester United legend Teddy Sheringham has come out and slammed one of the Red Devils’ stars in a recent interview. United may have to change their approach with selling the player.

In what is looking likely to be a busy window for Manchester United, there are many uncertainties regarding who will stay and who will leave.

Having finished the season in 15th in the Premier League, and going trophy-less in every other competition, Ruben Amorim’s first summer is due to see a major shakeup to the squad.

The main area due for an overhaul is the attack, with many sales expected in the coming months. This is so United can accommodate new signing Matheus Cunha, as well as Bryan Mbeumo, whose transfer seems all but done.

Despite a fruitful loan spell at Aston Villa, there still seems to be no way back into the squad for Marcus Rashford, who is expected to depart United permanently this summer.

When asked on this subject in an interview with Racing Tipster, United legend Teddy Sheringham had some very stern words for the English winger, who is reportedly holding out for a move to Barcelona.

Rashford antics don’t ‘sit right’ with Sheringham

Sheringham was posed the following question: “Marcus Rashford is reportedly holding out for a move to Barcelona. Is he right or wrong to do so?”

The former United gunman replied, “I certainly hope he isn’t. A few years ago, Aubameyang was seen as the bad apple at Arsenal. Arteta wanted him out and he ended up going to Barcelona. What a move that is, for a bad apple!

“For Rashford to not want to play at Man United, telling people after he signed a mega-deal that he doesn’t want to play for them, and yet he’s happy to pick up the money. Now he wants to go to Barcelona? It’s like, oof.

“I really hope it doesn’t happen. That’s not the way footballing careers should work, for me. If you’re playing well, okay, look at where you can go. See if you can get a move to a team like Barcelona. Try and make yourself even better.

“But not for downing tools and demanding that you get to go somewhere that’s debatably better than how you’re currently playing. That just doesn’t sit well with me.”

He finished with a damning statement saying, “I don’t think Rashford could say that he has played his way into a move to the Camp Nou over the last few years.”

United to change their Rashford stance?

As reported by Manchester Evening News, via UtdDistrict, United are now prepared for the possibility that they could have to send Rashford out on loan for the entire season next term.

This comes due to Amorim’s side now believing that there is only a ‘low possibility’ that someone pays £40 million for their player, with Inter Milan enquiring only on a loan basis.

The report also states that Rashford is unwilling to accept a wage cut, which significantly limits his options for potential suitors.

If it is true that United’s 142-goal man is waiting on Barcelona, then it could be quite the obstacle for Amorim, who will surely be hoping to replace the 27-year-old when he gets the chance.
