Diogo Dalot in awe of “unbelievable” Man United teammate, Ruud van Nistelrooy agreed
Diogo Dalot was in awe of one ‘unbelievable’ teammate following Manchester United’s victory over Leicester City and Ruud van Nistelrooy agreed with him.
Manchester United reacted well following Erik ten Hag’s sacking earlier this week, winning 5-2 against Leicester City to progress to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes both scored braces while Alejandro Garnacho netted his sixth of the season.
It was a positive performance under interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is set to take charge of the upcoming three games before Ruben Amorim becomes permanent manager.
Diogo Dalot also responded well to his embarrassing miss against West Ham on the weekend, assisting Garnacho’s goal and putting in a solid display.
Dalot in awe of Casemiro’s goal
Speaking after the game to club reporters, Dalot expressed his admiration for Casemiro, who was the standout performer on the night.
“Unbelievable,” responded the defender when asked about Casemiro’s wonder-goal. “He has that inside of him.
“We know his abilities. It shows how confident he was to do it that far from the goal and we’re really happy he did.
“We know when he is at this level, when he is in his best shape, I think he is an unbelievable player and he can help us a lot. Today, he showed a very fantastic level.”
Van Nistelrooy agreed with Dalot
Dalot was not the only person to praise his Brazilian teammate, with Van Nistelrooy offering supportive words to the 32-year-old veteran.
“I was delighted also for Casemiro. The way he has been training, helping the team and club. He is such an example,” the interim boss added.
“You also see the crowd’s reaction and they also know what he is about. We’re delighted to have him around.
“If you see him in training, preparing for games. With the history of all he has achieved with five Champions League, he is an example for us. And that was part of my celebration also, I’m happy for him.”
