Gianluca di Marzio claims target is “focused” on joining Manchester United in transfer latest
Gianluca di Marzio has provided the latest surrounding Manchester United as one of their targets is “focused” on signing for the Old Trafford club this summer.
Manchester United are on the verge of announcing the signing of 18-year-old centre-back Leny Yoro, having successfully diverted him from a move to Real Madrid.
Erik ten Hag and his team have been in pursuit of defensive reinforcements this summer after a challenging 2023/24 season, which saw them concede over eighty goals in all competitions and finish eighth in the Premier League.

In their quest for a stronger defence, United targeted the young prodigy Leny Yoro, who was widely expected to join Madrid, despite reportedly agreeing personal terms with Matthijs de Ligt the week prior.
United completed their quest for Yoro on Thursday afternoon, with many wondering what this means for the De Ligt deal. Transfer expert Gianluca di Marzio has explained that, although Yoro’s signing is a slight “problem” for De Ligt, he is focused on signing for the Old Trafford club.
Di Marzio also explained that he believes the Yoro deal will not ultimately scupper the De Ligt transfer.
“The problem is that Manchester United signed Leny Yoro from Lille, so we will see if Manchester United will sign two defenders,” Di Marzio told wettbasis.
“I know they want two new defenders, so I don’t think Yoro’s arrival will change Man United’s program for Matthijs de Ligt.
“Matthijs is focused on going to Manchester United, he wants to be there. But I think there is no agreement between the two clubs yet, and United’s offer is not enough to complete the deal.
“Obviously, they are closer to Yoro now, so they will need more time to come back to Bayern Munich and make a new offer to arrange a deal. Matthijs de Ligt could move to Manchester United even if they get Yoro in the next few days.”
Yoro completed his final medical examinations on Thursday morning and signed his contract in the afternoon, finalising his £52 million transfer from Lille.
