David Ornstein drops huge Antoine Semenyo bombshell amid Manchester United links

David Ornstein has dropped a massive bombshell regarding Manchester United target Antoine Semenyo, with one of the Reds’ bitter rivals entering the race.

Manchester United fell to seventh in the Premier League at the weekend as they suffered a defeat to Aston Villa, due to a Morgan Rogers brace.

Ruben Amorim’s Reds lost 2-1 in their trip to Villa Park on Sunday afternoon, and to make matters worse, their captain, Bruno Fernandes, had to exit the field with an injury.

The Portuguese maestro, who is almost always available for United, suffered a hamstring injury in the first-half and left the field at half-time as he was replaced by Lisandro Martinez.

Up next for the Reds is a tough test at home against Newcastle United on Boxing Day, which could see them climb up to fifth if they were to be victorious.

Semenyo race heats up

With the January transfer window just over a week away, the race for Antoine Semenyo is starting to heat up. United are one of the sides heavily linked to the Ghanaian’s services.

Amorim’s side have been linked with Semenyo since it was revealed that the Cherries’ talisman had a £65million release clause in his contract.

It was thought that only United and Manchester City would be in the race for the goal-scoring winger, although David Ornstein has revealed that a new side are seeking Semenyo’s signature.

As stated on X, Chelsea have made an initial enquiry to the 26-year-old’s camp over conditions for a January switch, instead of waiting until next summer to sign an attacker.

Blessing in disguise for United?

All it takes is a quick look at United’s results over the past few weeks to see that their attack hasn’t been the problem, and that their budget could be spent in more effective ways.

Although Semenyo has been in red-hot form, with eight goals and three assists in the league so far, he may be a signing that the Reds have to miss out on if they are to solve their defensive woes.

Amorim’s side are the joint-second top goal-scorers in the league as of now, but defensively, they have been poor, as they have conceded more than any side up until 15th.

With 28 goals conceded in only 17 games, United’s defensive vulnerabilities may need to be addressed before the Reds acquire another attacking talent, such as Semenyo.
