David Ornstein: Alejandro Garnacho now “under consideration” by Premier League club after new Manchester United price tag

According to David Ornstein, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho is “under consideration” for a transfer this summer by a Premier League club.

Manchester United are preparing for a major summer rebuild as they look to raise funds for Rúben Amorim by offloading several players. The club are planning a wide-ranging clear-out to reshape the squad in line with the new manager’s approach.

Victor Lindelöf and Christian Eriksen are both expected to leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season. Neither are seen as part of the future under Amorim’s leadership.

United are also looking to sell players currently out on loan, with Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia all likely to be made available for transfer.

Casemiro is another player expected to depart as the club shift their focus toward younger, more dynamic profiles that better fit Amorim’s high-energy system, although his recent regergence may suggest he still has a chance to stay at the club.

Garnacho “under consideration” for summer transfer

While the futures of many United players are clear, there remains a level of uncertainty surrounding a few of the side’s underperforming young players.

Fabrizio Romano recently described Rasmus Højlund’s future as “one to watch” amid interest from the Serie A, while Alejandro Garnacho is far from secure under Amorim.

Despite performing well as a winger for Erik ten Hag, Garnacho has failed to show consistency under the Portuguese boss as he has so far failed to adapted to the new attacking midfield position.

With this in mind, transfer specialist David Ornstein has confirmed on The Athletic that Garnacho is “under consideration” by Chelsea for a potential move this summer.

However, it is also noted that the London outfit are also eyeing Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, and the pair of players are likely to be considered alongside other targets ahead of the summer window.

Unied adjust Garnacho asking price

This comes following a report claiming that United have adjusted their asking price for the 20-year-old winger this summer.

Garnacho was subject to serious interest from Chelsea and Napoli in the January transfer window, but United stood firm on demanding around £60-70 million for the winger due to it being mid-season and very early into Amorim’s tenure.

However, ahead of the summer window, it has been reported in Italy that United are now willing to stoop to as low as £40 million for the Argentinian international this summer, with Napoli retaining a serious interest in the winger.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte is said to still consider Garnacho as his long-term replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who left the Naples side for Paris St. Germain in January.

Should United sell Garnacho this summer, his transfer fee would be listed as pure profit on the club’s books, while it has also been touted that he may be involved in a swap deal between United and Napoli that would see striker Victor Osimhen head to Old Trafford.
