Barcelona star Dani Olmo seems to be a potential option for Manchester United to sign in the upcoming January transfer window.

Manchester United have had mixed form under Ruben Amorim since he took charge at Old Trafford last month.

In his 10 opening games, just four of them have been wins. There have been clear problems as the team attempt to learn his system.

Some players have shown that they could have a long-term role under the Portuguese boss, such as Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui.

However, the performances of many others have displayed the need for Amorim to receive additions in upcoming transfer windows.

Now, it appears that a move for Barcelona star Dani Olmo could be a possibility in January despite having joined the La Liga giants in the summer transfer window.

Olmo’s Barcelona situation explained

Olmo secured a move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window from RB Leipzig for around £50 million after a stunning impact for Spain at Euro 2024.

The 26-year-old has made 15 appearances this season but now seems to have an uncertain future at the Camp Nou as the January window approaches.

When Olmo joined Barcelona in the summer, the Catalan club were only able to register him for their La Liga squad until the end of 2024 due to their financial issues. He was able to be registered due to the injury to defender Andreas Christensen.

Though, with the former Chelsea centre-back nearing a return, Olmo’s chances of playing for the club again this season have hit another complication after the Commercial Court 10 of Barcelona rejected the latest registration bid.

It has been reported by Mundo Deportivo that Olmo has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave Barcelona on a free deal if he is not registered in January, which has led to various outlets linking him with Premier League clubs.

Olmo’s stance on Premier League move

United are among the English teams to take an interest in the Euro 2024 winner, with MailSport claiming that Olmo’s agent has been in Manchester this week.

But the major question is whether the midfielder would be open to a mid-season Premier League move.

According to a report from TBR Football, Olmo would consider a six-month loan move to a club in England before reassessing his options in the summer.

It was explained that the player is not eager to activate the clause which allows him to leave Barcelona on a free contract, as he sees his long-term future at the Spanish club.

The report concluded that United are among a host of clubs interested in Olmo, which includes Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal. Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus would all be interested as well.
