Crystal Palace react to Dan Ashworth Man United’s summer transfer target
Crystal Palace are already looking for replacements for their star centre-back Marc Guéhi as Manchester United are interested in bringing his talents to Old Trafford this summer.
It is no secret that one of the main areas Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS want to improve in the United squad is central defence. Being heavily linked to Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Juventus’ Gleison Bremer the Reds are aiming to solidify their backline.
With a clear-out expected to happen in the summer, the club are reluctant to renegotiate terms with Raphaël Varane, Jonny Evans’ contract is expiring and Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelöf might be moved, United are eyeing up players to replace the old guard.

This has contributed to a ripple effect around the footballing world as teams prepare contingency plans for if the Red Devils come knocking.
It is being reported by The Telegraph that Crystal Palace have created a shortlist of replacements as they expect Guéhi to leave Selhurst Park in the next transfer window.
The 23-year-old has just two years remaining on his contract and the report states that Palace will ask for a club-record transfer meaning he will cost more than the £50 million that United paid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019.
Guéhi is currently sidelined with a knee injury that will need surgery and has missed the last four games for the London side but is expected to make a recovery to be involved in Gareth Southgate’s team for the upcoming European Championship.
United should expect to face stiff competition for the Englishman’s signature from their Premier League rivals as, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have all expressed their interest in the defender.
However, if Guéhi were to call Old Trafford home it seems that it would be dependent on Dan Ashworth being appointed sporting director in time as the former Newcastle man is said to be “an admirer” of the player.
