Cristiano Ronaldo reacts to fresh Manchester United decision, forcing new Casemiro transfer twist
Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly forced a new twist in Casemiro’s transfer future as Manchester United make a fresh decision on the Brazilian’s future.
Manchester United are aiming to offload several players in the January transfer window as they look to bolster their finances ahead of a crucial summer.
Rúben Amorim’s side started 2025 with promise, securing a draw against Liverpool, defeating Arsenal on penalties in the FA Cup, and earning a 3-1 victory over Southampton, highlighted by a brilliant 12-minute hat-trick from Amad. However, their momentum was dented by a disappointing 3-1 loss to Brighton.
Despite glaring needs for reinforcements at left-back, in midfield, and in attack, United’s transfer activity has been slow.
Amorim has been vocal about his desire to keep the core of his squad intact, but the club are expected to part ways with several players before the window shuts, with most departures likely to be loan deals.
Ronaldo forces twist in Casemiro transfer saga
Casemiro is one player United has been looking to offload for over a year, with the 32-year-old’s bloated wages and £60 million transfer fee depleting the club’s resources since he signed from Real Madrid in 2022.
The midfielder performed well in his first campaign but has since failed to live up to the form he showed in 2022/23, making costly errors and thoroughly losing his place under Amorim across the last six weeks.
Recently, a report explained that United have now dropped their demands for the player to below £30 million as there were no suitors at the initial price tag.
News out of Brazil seemingly shows that former Red, Cristiano Ronaldo, is now pushing for Casemiro to join him in Saudi Arabia, forcing a twist in his future after many thought the midfielder would stay at United this month.
According to the Brazilian outlet UOL, Ronaldo has been insisting that his current club, Al Nassr, recruit the United player this month and that the Saudi Arabian outfit have now initiated contact with United surrounding a transfer.
United would not stand in the way of Casemiro
Considering the player’s wages, which sit at over £18 million a year according to UOL, United would do little to stand in the way of a move.

A potential transfer fee is not mentioned in the Brazilian article, but there is one issue that All Nassr must first navigate before they can sign Casemiro, and that is to get rid of a current foreign player.
With the Saudi Pro League side currently at the maximum of their current foreign player quota, the report states that this is not a significant obstacle as one of Anderson Talisca, Sadio Mané and Aymeric Laporte will likely leave the club.
Therefore, United may be able to send their highest-paid player off their books before the end of the window in under two week’s time.
