Fabrizio Romano has issued a fresh transfer update surrounding Bruno Fernandes’ potential move to Al-Hilal from Manchester United this summer.
Manchester United have just endured a dismal season and are now looking ahead to how they can rebuild before the next campaign.
Rúben Amorim is keen to strengthen his squad, but a number of players could be on their way out as the club prepare for a year without European football and look to streamline the group.
There are currently no intentions to sell Bruno Fernandes, one of the few players to emerge from last season with credit. The captain registered 19 goals and 20 assists in all competitions as he tried to carry the team forward.
However, there is serious interest from Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal hoping to make Fernandes their marquee signing ahead of this summer’s Club World Cup.
Al-Hilal ready to offer crazy money for Fernandes
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered the latest on Fernandes’ potential move to Al-Hilal, confirming that the Saudi side are willing to match whatever United demand for the player this summer.
Although Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, was spotted in a hotel in Saudi Arabia near Al-Hilal’s offices on Thursday, Romano also confirmed that Pinho has been in the country all week.
“From what I understand, the agent of Bruno Fernandes arrived in Saudi on Monday, so he’s not in the last 24-48 hours,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.
“This week has been a whole week of conversations, negotiations, discussions, with a crazy salary bid from Al-Hilal. A really, really impressive salary for four years for Bruno Fernandes, and also they are prepared to match what Manchester United could ask for Bruno Fernandes.
“So my understanding is that Al-Hilal are prepared to pay a crazy transfer fee also. Now it depends on what Bruno and United decide to do together… Al-Hilal are ready to pay what Bruno and the club want.”
Elsewhere, journalist Ben Jacobs reported that if Fernandes gives the green light, Al-Hilal will open negotiations with United for a bid of around £85 million. However, the offer on the table for the 30-year-old will be withdrawn if he does not respond within seven days.
Amorim has made his thoughts on Fernandes clear
Speaking further, Romano explained that despite the giant sum of cash United could receive for the player this summer, Amorim has been clear that he does not want his club captain to leave.
“For Ruben Amorim, Bruno is absolutely an untouchable player,” Romano continued. “He absolutely doesn’t want Bruno to leave the club this summer. Then it’s on Bruno and it’s on the club, Manchester United, to see how they want to assess the situation.
“So they will need to talk now to the agent as soon as he will be back from Saudi in the next hours. There will be conversations and United and Bruno will understand together what they can really do after this crazy proposal ready from Al-Hilal.
“So they will be ready to pay whatever is needed to get Bruno Fernandes. But the real point is now on what the player and the club want to do. From what I’m hearing, the clear message from Rúben Amorim is that the player has to stay.”
