“Could be a situation…” Bruno Fernandes’ stance on Man Utd future depends on three key factors

Bruno Fernandes’ stance on his future at Manchester United has been revealed, with his decision heavily relying on three key factors.

Manchester United’s start to the season has been rapidly improving as of late, with Ruben Amorim’s Reds winning three of their last four fixtures against Chelsea, Sunderland, and now Liverpool.

United now sit ninth in the Premier League, and look far better value now than when the season started. Their next match is a tough test at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Despite an air of positivity ringing around Old Trafford at the moment, there are still a few questions regarding Amorim’s system, and most specifically, his midfield.

So far this campaign, the Portuguese coach has opted for a two-man pairing of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, although this has forced the United captain into a deeper role than he is used to.

Fernandes’ future in the balance

With Fernandes now operating from a deeper role, it has been questioned whether he is still happy at United, as he is seeing less involvement on the attacking front.

According to transfer expert Ben Jacobs, via The United Stand, the Portuguese star’s future rests on three factors, and one of these factors is based on what his role at the club is.

The post on X reads, “Bruno Fernandes will decide based on where this Manchester United project is heading, what his role is, and I think, as he said last summer and before he signed a new 5-year contract, where Manchester United also feels the best value is.

“Because there could be a situation where Manchester United get an offer that is good enough for them and they say it’s better to sell now than do one extra season.”

United’s midfield concerns

Although United are starting to pick up some results, Amorim’s system is still clearly not getting the best use out of their captain.

Fernandes, as well as Kobbie Mainoo, may end up being the key players sacrificed if the Reds are to keep building the club under Amorim’s management.

It is no secret that United will be bringing in a new midfielder, whether in January or the summer. This could have knock-on effects at the club.

Having stayed put at the club during the summer, despite heavy interest from Saudi Arabia, an exit for United’s captain could still be on the horizon if his plans don’t align with those of the club.
